Aconitum apellus

The individual can feel anxious before and/ or during urination. The flow or urine can feel hot, scanty and a with burning or spasmodic sensation at the neck of the bladder. It can also be considered if there is retention of urine after the individual has been very cold and chilled, or after a shock where there has been shaking.

Apis mellifica

The individual will feel the sensation of frequently needing to urinate, but is only able to pass a small quantity. There will be a strong sensation of stinging and burning, particularly at the end of flow, with the last few drops. The individual may also experience soreness or discomfort in the abdomen. Symptoms are worse for heat and touch, and better for cool applications/ bathing, and better for fresh air. There can be a distinct lack of thirst.

Belladonna

Individuals can feel an intense and frequent urge to urinate, and the bladder feels extremely sensitive. There may also be cramping in the bladder area. Only a small amount of urine is passed and it can be dark yellow in colour – there may even be small amounts of blood in the flow. NB Blood in the urine should always be checked swiftly by a medical professional.

Berberis vulgaris

Individuals may experience a cutting type pain sensation, or a burning sensation which extends to the urethra. This burning may also be experienced when the individual is not trying to urinate. Individuals can experience the urge to urinate, even after emptying the bladder – it can feels as if some urine still remains inside. Discomfort and urging are typically worse for movement and walking.

Borax

The individual may feel a smarting pain in the opening of the urinary tract, with aching in the bladder itself. There may also be the sensation that urine is retained. There may be fear about urinating because of the pain they know will occur – this is particularly notable in children who will cry or scream. There is a great sensitivity to noise and individuals are often susceptible to motion sickness.

Cantharis

Individuals experience a strong and constant urge to urinate, even after emptying the bladder. Pains are cutting in nature – felt before, during and after urination. Only several drops of urine will pass at a time, and may be accompanied by a scalding sensation.

Chimaphila umbellata

The individual has difficulty urinating - there is an urge to urinate but the individual has to strain in order to do so, possibly even needing to stand up/ lean forward to aid urination. The flow may be accompanied by a scalding sensation, with a feeling of straining occurring afterwards.

Clematis

The individual feels the need to urinate frequently, however only a small amount of urine is actually passed. There may be a sensation of constriction in the urinary passage which may interrupt the flow, or there may be dribbling afterwards. There may also be a tingling sensation, which continues long after urination has finished.

Lycopodium

The individual experiences the need to urinate frequently during the night, passing large amounts of urine. Or there may be a painful urge to urinate, but with straining required for the urine to flow. This pain may be felt in the back before the urine passes. NB Pain in the back should always be checked swiftly by a medical professional.

Nux vomica

Individuals will experience an extremely irritable bladder, with a constant need to urinate despite only passing small amounts of urine. Pains may be cramping or burning in nature, and felt in the bladder area. There may also be an itching sensation in the urethra while passing the flow of urine. Individuals may feel impatient and irritable, and feel chilly. Symptoms are typically improved for warmth, including hot water bottle, warm bath, etc.

Sepia

Individuals experience a sudden and urgent need to urinate, with increased frequency. There can be a sense that urine might leak if urination is delayed, and there may be small amounts of involuntary urination. The individual may experience a dragging-down sensation in the area of the bladder region, or a sensation of pressure above the pubic bone. Individuals often feel worn-out and irritable. They may also experience cold hands/ feet, and a feeling of sagging in the pelvic region.

Staphysagria

Females may develop a UTI after sexual intercourse, especially if newly sexual active or if cystitis regularly occurs after having sex. Or if the UTI develops after illness where there has been extended bed rest or catheterisation. There may be pressure in the bladder after urinating, as if it has not emptied fully. There may also be the sensation that a drop of urine is rolling through the urethra. There may also be a constant burning feeling.
